WHB: Habits For A New Year

It’s Weekly Habit time again, and I can conclude that while I did better than the week before, there is still space for improving my consistency.

I can only guess that christmas time is not too good a time to focus on new habits, as the mind is busy on other things.

But let’s give it another try now!

Let me do a bit of visioning on what habits I want to have implemented until the end of the year first, and then go into the following week with a bam!

My habit goals for 2008

There are a few things that I want to have fully up and running until the end of the year. For me it’s mainly about building two things that will help me a lot to reach my other goals:

  1. Self discipline, to do what I need to do consistently
  2. A clear and focused mind and a healthy body, so I am able to do my work effectively

This leads to some big goals for 2008 to reach for:

  • Implement Getting Things Done into my life, so that I stay on top of my life and can focus on the here and now every single moment
  • Write daily to my blog and market it daily, to provide you with the best content possible and spread the word to as many people as possible - and make a serious difference in my finances!
  • Implement FlyLady.com to manage our home life, to do what is needed to keep the apartment clean and neat with as little effort as possible.
  • Change my eating habits to a mostly vegan whole-foods diet, to energize my body and improve mental clarity.

I am sure that implementing these three habits or goals will make a real difference in my life, and will put me in a much better position to provide even more value to even more people all over the world.

So here are my goals for this week

Every week on monday morning, I will post my weekly goals to this blog, and also put up some consequences if I don’t reach my goal.

This week I will commit to the following habits on a daily basis:

  • Write at least one article that is providing a value to my readers.
  • Do something - anything - to spread the word about my blog and attract new readers.
  • Keep my Hot Spots clean.
  • Work through my e-mail and bloglines inboxes at least once a day.
  • Eat fruits - and only fruits - first thing in the morning.

As punishment seems to not be too motivating for me, let’s try it with a reward this week:

If I manage to follow through on my plan, I will go shopping for a great book, music-cd, audiobook or dvd that I enjoy.

What new Habit(s) will you start today?

Write about your plan in the comments, and maybe put up consequences or promise yourself with a reward. Put up your plan somewhere where you will see it often, and follow through with it. This way, you will collect some successes that will give you a good feeling and boost your self esteem!

But don’t over-stretch yourself, and don’t try to turn your whole life around on a single day. It probably won’t work.
