WHB: Getting A Fresh Start

By Tobias Zimpel | Dec 17, 2007

On to the next week on weekly habit building.

After I changed my plan last week, I made the rest of the week a success:

  • I cleaned up all of my Hot Spots, so our apartment looks a lot neater than before.
  • I emptied my paper inbox, and the only items that stayed there are those that require immediate action on my part.
  • I did not write a blog post a day. In fact I didn’t post one on saturday, but shouldn’t I have a day of a week, in particular if I spent this day helping a friend to emergency-clean his apartment and do some necessary repairs? Well, if I think through it, I shouldn’t because I have a commitment towards you as my readers. So I’ll compensate by writing another article today.

Now that was my last week. Let’s start the next with some challenge: I will stay with the past week’s daily habits and throw some one-time commitments on top of them.

My goals for this week

Every week on monday morning, I will post my weekly goals to this blog, and also put up some consequences if I don’t reach my goal.

This week I will commit to the following habits on a daily basis:

  • Keep my Hot Spots clean and ensure that they are clean before I go to bed in the evening.
  • Processing inboxes every day using the GTD Methodology.
  • Publishing at least one blog post a day.

In addition I will get the following tasks done until sunday evening:

  • Emergency-clean our apartment to make it ready for the holidays
  • Ensure that I eventually get into the Blog Mastermind Course. I booked a place, but still await the payment to finish and my account to open.

If I don’t manage to follow through this plan, I will work through all my paper backlog before new year’s eve!

What new Habit(s) will you start today?

Write about your plan in the comments, and maybe put up consequences or promise yourself with a reward. Stick your plan somewhere where you will see it often, and follow through with it. This way, you will collect some successes that will make you feel good.

But don’t over-stretch yourself, and don’t try to turn your whole life around on a single day. It probably won’t work.
