
In my experience, concentrating on the negative feelings doesn’t help that much. So doing something that helps you to draw off from your bad feelings is generally a good idea.
Here are four methods that have helped me a lot when I’m feeling down.
One way to let go of negative feelings is simply to get into action. Do something - anything! - that you can easily finish.
This has multiple effects.
I bet that after a while “in action”, you just forgot to feel bad.
Put on a beautiful piece of music. Something that opens your heart and releases positive feelings. Choose something that is similar to how you want to feel.
After listening to the music for a moment, you will recognize that your feelings begin to change.
Another great way to feel better is to concentrate on things you are grateful for. I’m sure that there are more things that make you feel grateful than you will initially believe, because it is often not the large things that make you happy, but the many little things - and often just the things money can’t buy.
Maybe you want to make a list of all the things you are greatful for, and put it in a place where you will see it often, and are able to add other things that come to your mind.
If your gratitide relates to a person, you might want to write this person a letter, make phone call, or meet him or her in person to express your gratitude.
You will find that it is impossible to feel grateful for something and at the same time continue to have negative feelings.
Another great way that is especially useful if you don’t even have what little energy it needs to move your body into action is to think about your dreams. Simply lie down and think about what you really want in your life. Get inolved into this as deeply as you can. After a while it may start to feel more and more real to you. That is when you are fully in the present moment, and have a clear focus on what you rally want. Feel the energy that lies in this moment, where present and future become one.
Maybe after a while you find yourself feeling driven to get into action. Just go with the flow, and do what you feel attracted to.
